What is an iCloud locked Device?
The iCloud 'Activation Lock' was introduced in 2014's iOS 7 release, essentially adding the functionality to lock down iPhone status to a user's iCloud account. This feature is turned on automatically on any device when someone turns on 'Find my Phone'. Once 'Find my Phone' is enabled, the device cannot be erased. Unfortunately, an innocent consumer may have acquired an iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch and be left with an unusable device without contacting the original owner to remove the iCloud Activation Lock.
